Pillbugs, or potato bugs or "roly-polys," are actually closely related to shrimp. They are commonly confused with sow bugs. They are actually beneficial, in smaller quantities, as they eat dead and decaying matter in the soil. However, when their population gets very large, they will move on to eating the living turfgrass to sustain the colony.
