Chinch Bugs Insecticide

Blissus leucopterus Insecticide

Description of Chinch Bugs (Blissus leucopterus):
Chinch bug damage can easily be confused with drought damage. A good way to check whether it is drought damage or chinch bug damage is to simply water the lawn. If it greens up, then it was damage because of the drought.

A good way to check for chinch bugs is to remove both ends of a tin can. Hold one opening the tin can on the lawn and create a seal with the soil. After doing this, you can fill the can with water. If you have chinch bugs, they will float to the top of the water.

Label Rate:
0.5 - 1 fluid ounces per 1,000 sqft
Cost Effectiveness:
Covers 96000 - 192000 square feet
at a cost of
$0.21 - $0.42 per 1,000 sqft
Instructions:
Mostly found in the thatch layer, chinch bugs infest the base of grass plants. In order to optimize the penetration of the insecticide to location of the chinch bugs, irrigation of the grass prior to treatment may be necessary. If grass is being kept at a long mowing height or if the thatch layer is excessive, use higher volume treatments. It may be necessary to use higher application rates (up to 1 fluid oz. per 1000 square feet) to control populations made up of both adults and nymphs in mid-summer.
