Description of Centipedes (Chilopoda spp.):
Centipedes (not to be confused with centipede grass) are actually quite beneficial for the lawn. They feed on the dead plant material which returns precious and rich nutrients to the soil. They also are predators and eat harmful insects that can damage the lawn. Obviously, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing if they have taken over your beloved green paradise.
