Description of Armyworms (Spodoptera mauritia):
Armyworms are caterpillars that infest lawns and grass pastures. They mostly feed on the leaves of turf, but also will feed on the crown and cause the loss of the entire grass plant. Armyworms usually have white stripes on the back and sides and a smooth body with few hairs. Mature armyworms grow up to 1" to 1.5" long.
