Description of Stem Rust (Puccinia graminis):
Stem rust is a type of turf rust that affects the stem of the turfgrass. It first appears as a light-yellow or greenish flecking on the leaf blade, but eventually become enlarged. It is a common disease that is the most severe on Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue, perennial ryegrass, and zoysia.
