Description of Southern Blight (Sclerotium rolfsii):
Southern blight, also known as Sclerotium blight, affects large areas of turf in a circular pattern and up to 9 feet in diameter. Some of the turf may remain alive in the center of these affected areas. The plant turns a reddish-brown color and dies. The plant material that's infected appears to be necrotic.
