Description of Red Thread (Laetisaria fuciformis):
Red thread is a disease that leaves the lawn having reddish or pink fibers on dying patches of grass. It's more aggressive on cool-season grasses including red fescue, perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, and creeping bentgrass. It does not affect the roots or the crown of the plant, so it is relatively harmless as far as turf diseases go.
