Description of Melting-Out (Drechslera poae):
Melting out is a type of turf fungus that causes brown or purplish spots with straw-colored grass. Kentucky bluegrass, in particular, is highly susceptible to this type of fungus. It favors conditions that are moist and between 50 and 75 degrees F. It is severe on low-cut turf and over-fertilized areas.
